Timothy M. Devinney

Timothy M. Devinney is an Australian-American management scholar and a Professor of Strategy at the School of Business, University of Technology, Sydney.

Timothy Devinney’s degrees are: BSc (Magna Cum Laude – Psychology and Applied Mathematics), Carnegie Mellon University; MA, MBA, PhD (Economics), University of Chicago.

Work and ideas

Timothy Devinney was formerly Director of the Centre for Corporate Change at the Australian School of Business. He has served/taught on the faculties of UCLA, Vanderbilt University, University of Chicago, London Business School, Copenhagen Business School, The Humboldt University of Berlin, Trier University, Hamburg University, Hong Kong University of Science and Technology, and City University - Hong Kong.

Timothy Devinney is a former Chair of the International Management Division of the Academy of Management (AOM). He is Associate Editor of Academy of Management Perspectives, co-editor of the Advances in International Management book series, and Editor of the Social Science Research Network’s (SSRN), International Business and Management Network. He has also held administrative roles in the Academy of International Business (AIB), the Australian New Zealand Academy of Management (ANZAM), and the Strategic Management Society (SMS). He is currently a Core Member of the Centre for Management and Organisational Studies at UTS.

Research

Devinney works in the areas of International Business and Corporate Social Responsibility, where he has developed methodological applications based on the application of stated preference methods and measures of performance.

Awards

Timothy Devinney is an International Fellow of the Advanced Institute of Management (AIM), a Fellow of the Academy of International Business, and a Distinguished Member of ANZAM. In 2008 he was a recipient of an Alexander von Humboldt Foundation (AvH) Research Award and as Bellagio Residence Fellow of the Rockefeller Foundation. In 2008 he was also named Researcher of the Year by the Australia New Zealand Marketing Academy (ANZMAC).
